THE WORLD'S GREATEST STUDENT CHALLENGE IN OFFSHORE WIND
ABOUT THE CHALLENGE
The global Offshore Wind Challenge stimulates young engineers to design and build the best offshore wind support structure for deep water conditions.
Up until the 2026 edition, the competition was limited to floating wind concepts, but the 2027 edition opens up the competition to other deep water solutions. The turbine remains the same and students have to build their structure for a Vevor 500W turbine
The location for the 2027 competition will be determined over the coming months. The timeline for the 2027 edition can be accessed using the link below.
2026 EDITION
After a selection process with more than 20 registrations, we welcomed 12 teams to Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhône, France for the final competition of the 2026 Floating Wind Challenge 🇫🇷 We started off with a presentation day, where students could present their structure ahead of the competition day, when they had to install their structure offshore 🌊 All teams compete to design and build the best floating support structure for a 500W Vevor wind turbine 💨
